Great to read each week how you are shining a light on the older woman!
Just out of interest, in all the talk you hear about HRT does anyone ever mention ‘what if you’ve had breast cancer?’. I had an early menopause at 43, was just about through it and then had breast cancer so the chemo sent me back to the world of brain fog and hot flushes, plus HRT verboten of course as my cancer was oestrogen driven. Now at 64 I’m really feeling I could have done with it, I wonder what the answer is for the more-than-post menopausal woman?
I am not an expert but I hear from Dr Nighat that there are circumstances in which those with histories of breast cancer can find particular kinds of HRT which they can take but it really depends on individual circumstances. If you email me I can pass you on to someone who can help! X
Thanks Eleanor, I didn’t expect a reply tonight!! My email address is veronicadunn57@gmail.com, it would be great to find someone I could talk to. Have been signed off re. Breast cancer for several years, so no longer see my oncologist, can’t see my GP (telephone appointments only and they are like hen’s teeth). I live in East Kent which is pretty deprived in terms of the NHS.
I’m really looking forward to the event tomorrow. I particularly like Carolyn Harris (I’m also from Swansea). Her story is an such an inspiration to other women.
Thanks! I love Carolyn too - her Queenager tale is amazing. She got a degree in her 40s and became an MP at 50! Living proof of our Noon motto So Much More to Come. I’ve interviewed her for our Inclusive Menopause series on Noon xx
