Whenever I move house, the removal men dump the furniture wherever and I’ve noticed that often it stays pretty much where it is till I move again. I think life’s a bit like that; everything around you was someone else’s idea: society, educational institutions, the “system”. Now I’m 62 I see I can take the leap, move the furniture around and the world doesn’t end. So your article about risk, doing new things etc made perfect sense and reminded me of the importance of keeping curious and doing more rather than less as the years go by.

Congratulations Eleanor!! You are blazing a trail and we are so-o grateful 🙏… and I LOVE the book… Searching for purpose now in my Queenager years: would you be willing to share details of the healer you saw in Dartmoor? It’s a minefield and I don’t know where to start but got shivers down my spine when I read Work and Purpose in Part 4.. thank you for any help. Elizabeth xx

I love so much about this post - especially the bit about going back to the shop floor and finding beauty in learning and doing the small stuff! And so many congratulations on getting to number 4 in the Times non-fiction list - amazing and so deserved!

Absolutely. Committing to taking risks is key - and they're all relative: no need to take up sky diving or stand-up comedy (though you might!). But as we discussed at the latest Noon Circle Eleanor, a big thing lacking for women is support. Even knowing what that means or recognising that we need and deserve it can be unfathomable for women. I've always been taking risks and putting myself out there professionally and personally, but I often didn't have the necessary support. Now I see how precarious it was, and the opposite of self-care at times. Accessing support has been a game changer for me - and I know that this is one of the many things the Noon community provides for many of us. Hmm. Perhaps I could write a piece about it for your website? It feels very ripe.... Anyway, huge congratulations for launching the book with a bang.. SO great to see you getting the coverage and recognition you deserve. I'm now heading out to the garden to get started with your book this afternoon.... xx
