And funnily enough, I was at a dinner Feb 1st where we also celebrated Imbolc, and I think there is a story of a Celtic female saint mixed up in this and probably worth researching and celebrating. Bet she was a Queenager! It's the midpoint between the winter solstice Dec 21 and the Equinox in March... so yes, to birds, they are definitely singing.
As for money, teach your kids one thing, repeatedly I was told.. COMPOUND interest. Save as much as you can from as early as you can, and remember what a wise friend once told me: 'a man is not a financial plan.' These days, for older ladies, also beware of the men who are at the opposite end of the spectrum - and expect you to be a nurse, a purse or a mother. Our mothers taught us a crucial lesson, whether they modelled it or its opposite: financial independence is a woman's best friend. It was a hard-earned right, so let's wield it.
