The youngest Baroness in the Lords talks to Noon Founder Eleanor Mills about AI (we don't need to be scared) and the importance of working hard and being kind in all things
This is a terrific interview Eleanor. Thank you. Martha Lane Fox is a great example of positive females in power. Despite her physical challenges (in spite of?), using her influence for good means and challenging the power structure. Sobering how alive and kicking the patriarchy is.
Love this - what a sobering account of today's corridors of power! This shit still!? Thank goodness for Martha's - albeit lonely - push against the system. I love the 'darling' comment! Thank goodness she is still determined to provide a rare female voice in rooms of power - despite her own challenging situation. Thanks Eleanor.
Thanks for sharing your own version , so much better . It is still so disappointing that it feels nothing has changed . Having witnessed toxic make culture in business since the 80’s I was naively hopeful that by now we would have moved on but sadly not quite yet but at least now we talk about it and it is not the secret it once was . I am still amazed like Martha at the casual sexism in everyday language , being called ‘ dear ‘ or ‘ love’ by a gen z who should know better is so disappointing !! Great interview , amazing woman and role model
This is an inspiring interview. I don't ever recall seeing the news that Martha LF had had a terrible accident after the sale of Lastminute.com, but it is inspiring that having sold the company for a "never work again" sum of money, and suffered life-changing injuries, she decided to pursue a portfolio career of trying to do the right thing in organisations. I read that you should never meet your heroes a long time ago and had that confirmed a couple of times during my own business career when people I had admired turned out to be real-life rats. So it's nice to read that someone who could genuinely be considered a business hero is also a real-life nice person!
That is why I like writing on my own substack rather than having to trim what I want to say to what I can through the male editors at the Telegraph!!! I’ve had enough of that!!!
This is fantastic, thank you. I had no idea she still suffered so much, what a shame. And yet, she’s incredible!! The kind of person I wish would lead our government. More power to her x

Prefer this version to the one published in the telegraph. Feels more human!
