Queenager Careers: Employers actively seeking midlife women like you!
It's time for our monthly jobs bulletin from the NOON Jobs Board - today with a doubly regal twist!
Dear Queenagers,
Well today was the King’s Speech in which King Charles outlined the new government’s key measures for the next parliament (he looks like his crown is about to fall forward!).
I am happy to say that when I interviewed Anneliese Dobbs MP - now our new Labour Secretary of State for Equalities and Women - earlier this year she had her eyes set firmly on keeping Queenagers in work. “Around £7 billion of additional economic output could be released to the UK economy if the 157,000 women in this cohort [Queenagers] who have left work since the pandemic returned to the labour market… Retaining midlife women and getting them back into work is key to the economy and the labour market,” she said.
Let’s all keep our eyes peeled for new measures to help Queenagers. We need them and so does UK PLC… I hosted a fascinating webinar last night all about the yawning gender pension gap faced by us Queenagers. They only started measuring it last year (better late than never) but the average woman retires with 35% LESS in her pension pot than the average man, even though women tend to live longer. Given that we are also seeing a Queenager brain drain from the work force with many of us (like me) being made redundant as we hit 50 (yup gendered ageism is real) this is a massive economic issue. If we are going to be able to stuff our pension pots so we don’t have an impecunious old age then we need to stay in work until we are 68 (retirement age) - which is why government measures to boost Queenager employment and combat gendered ageism are so important. In the meantime we are proud to host the Noon Jobs Board featuring lots of employment opportunities from companies actively seeking Queenagers. And today we’ve got some special new vacancies from Bank of Ireland, ITV and Lidl just for you…
