Dear Queenagers... A special online Noon Birthday Circle for March 8th and other dates
It's International Women's Day AND our third birthday - come and celebrate!
Happy Birthday NOON flowers (actually the beautiful bouquet the skiing Queenagers sent me!)
Dear Queenagers!
Happy Friday - I’ve had a busy week. Been interviewing Jess Phillips MP for the Telegraph all about the Gaza debate and the death threats she receives as an MP (and how she loves having an empty nest and feels like a teenager in love with her husband again…) it is out tomorrow.
And yesterday I went on Channel 5 News to spread the Queenager message and respond to the Equality Commission’s ruling telling employers they have to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ for menopausal women. I made the point that we are Queenagers not walking hot flushes - and that while we welcome not getting fired if we are sick and doctors knowing how to treat our symptoms (until last year there was no mandatory training for GPs on menopause) we don’t want to be seen through a purely menopausal lens.
Women at this point are so invisible in the culture that the danger is all anyone thinks when they see us is ‘menopause’ - which would be like looking at my teenage daughters and thinking ‘menstrual’, when of course they - and we - are so much more than that! The point of feminism was to free women from their biology, not put us back into a hysterical hormonal box. I argued for a change in the story that is told about women at this point and explained the term Queenager…
Anyway it seemed to go down well, I had so many lovely messages from women all over the country and lots of new subscribers (if that is you then welcome). Oh and I also wrote this again for the Telegraph about the new menopause rules.
But enough of all that! The point of this Friday evening newsletter is to issue you lovely Paid Subscribers with a special invitation to a birthday celebration Noon Circle on Friday March 8th at 6pm (Your personal invitation zoom link is below the Paid Line in this newsletter). It is our third birthday, so to celebrate we’ll do an online get-together, so everyone wherever they are in the world or the UK can join in. We’ll be hearing from all of you, talking about those midlife pinchpoints but also how we move into our true Queenager purpose and power in midlife. I’ll also be telling you about some exciting plans that we’ve got! There is also a link below the paid content line for you to sign up for our May 24th-28th retreat in Yorkshire on the Google form (if you haven’t already). We’ll be opening the booking next week but those of you who are on this list will get first pick of the rooms… they are pretty sumptuous at Broughton!! Check it out if you’d like to get a look at what is on offer..
